Dr. Anil Khurana is the founding Executive Director of the Baratta Center for Global Business and Research Professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough Business School. He is a successful industry leader and business executive, with expertise in strategy, operations, investing, digitization, finance, innovation, climate-tech and sustainability, and mobility.
In his role, he drives the vision of the Center which is to be the venue for discussing and shaping the future of global business by helping solve real problems by bringing together private industry, government policy, society, academia, and applied research. The underlying premise is that globalization and globalism are undergoing numerous tectonic shifts and significant changes – shaped by geopolitics, trade, climate change, scarce resources, food insecurity, AI and technology, economic and investment trends, and demographics, as well as an emerging desire by many individuals, businesses and institutions to do good for the world. He oversees the activities of the center, which include working with Center members and faculty to frame and organize research, enabling roundtables and working groups, engaging with thought leaders and media, and driving partnerships with organizations around the world.
Till 2022, Anil was a senior Partner with PwC Strategy& and was the Managing Partner of PwC’s $7.5B global industrials and automotive business unit. He started his career with Indian Railways and worked in manufacturing and private equity roles before joining consulting. He now serves on corporate boards in the US, Europe, and Middle East, and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and also supports several social causes such as education equity, children's education and emotional health, and homelessness and family care.
He received his Ph.D., MBA, and MS (Engineering) degrees from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where he was a Ford Fellow and a Fellow with the William Davidson Institute. He also did a Masters in Economics from Panjab University, India. He received his undergraduate degrees in engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
