Andrés Gluski was named President and CEO of the AES Corporation in 2011. Under his leadership, AES has become one of the world’s leading renewables and clean technologies companies. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), in both 2021 and 2022, AES signed more contracts with corporations for renewable energy than anyone else on the globe. AES’ record for innovation has been recognized by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) with a record seven Edison Awards and Fluence. AES’ JV with Siemens has consistently been named the #1 grid-scale energy storage integrator.
AES established an aggressive carbon reduction strategy in 2018, making AES the first publicly traded U.S. energy company to issue a climate report that complies with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). In addition, AES has announced its intent to exit coal by 2025 and reach net zero carbon emissions from electricity generation by 2040.
Today, AES is an inclusive, innovative workplace with the highest standards. In 2021 and 2022, the Wall Street Journal named AES to its “Top 250 Best Managed Companies” ranking, and in 2023, AES earned the designation as one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere® Institute for the tenth straight year. Gluski has been named among the 100 Most Influential Latinos by Latino Leaders Magazine every year since 2017.
Gluski serves as Chairman of the Council of the Americas/Americas Society and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of EEI. He is also on the Board of Waste Management and the US-India and US-Brazil CEO Forums. He earned his MA and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia.
