David Etzwiler

David Etzwiler leads the Siemens Foundation in ensuring economic, social, and racial justice in the United States by focusing on workforce training, reducing health disparities, and creating a more sustainable world. His career and leadership have been at the intersection of business, government, and philanthropy, and his last role was with Medtronic, Inc. as vice president of community affairs, and executive director of Medtronic Foundation. This role included aligning Medtronic Foundation’s philanthropy with Medtronic’s global business strategy as well as leading state government affairs and policy efforts. A graduate of Northwestern University, Etzwiler earned his master’s of public policy from the Claremont Graduate University in California and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. Etzwiler has been an active member of numerous boards throughout his career, including the National Council on Foundations, the National Urban Fellows, One Village Partners, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Council on Foundations, the Children’s Theatre Company, and the World Affairs Council in Washington, D.C. He also was a past chair of the Conference Board’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.
