Eugene has over 30 years’ leadership experience in a diverse range of market sectors including electric vehicle charging, roadside retail, food and beverage outlets, urban regeneration and property development. He has spearheaded the start-up phase of new businesses, leading multinational teams in strategic business planning and development of new market sectors with innovation and agility, consistently outperforming peers on stakeholder returns.
As Chief Executive Officer of Applegreen Electric, he leads Applegreen’s electric vehicle fast charging infrastructure business. Applegreen Electric is an independent Charge Point Operator hosting and operating over 800 fast charging bays across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Today, Applegreen Electric works with a range of partners to design, develop, host, and operate universal access EV fast charging bays, providing 1,500,000+ charging sessions to its customers annually, empowering EV drivers to enjoy their journey.
Eugene joined Applegreen in 2011 and first established electric vehicle fast charging as part of its services to customers in 2012. Applegreen is one of the largest Travel Plaza operators in Europe and the US, trading as Welcome Break in the UK and as Applegreen in the US and Ireland. Applegreen joined Blackstone Infrastructure Partners in 2021, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, with $1 trillion in assets under management.
